0:36
Step one, export WordPress contents.
0:40
First, let's get started by setting up
0:42
everything you need for a seamless
0:44
migration. Make sure you're logged into
0:46
your WordPress site and have access to
0:48
your Ghost admin panel. In your
0:50
WordPress dashboard, go to tools, then
0:53
export. Here you can select the export
0:55
contents. Once you're in, select all
0:58
content and hit download export file.
1:02
This will download an XML file or JSON
1:04
with all your posts, pages, comments,
1:07
and more. If you've got a lot of
1:09
content, this may take a minute. No
1:12
worries, the file is small enough to
1:14
handle with ease. Step two, upload XML
1:18
file to Ghost. Next, head over to your
1:20
Ghost admin panel. You'll find the
1:23
WordPress migrator tool under settings,
1:25
advanced, import, export. It's super
1:28
easy to find, and that's where the magic
1:30
happens. Now that you've got your XML
1:33
file, head back to the Ghost Migrator
1:35
window and click or drag the file here
1:37
to upload. Once the file is uploaded,
1:40
hit continue. Ghost will take a moment
1:43
to analyze your content, and soon you'll
1:45
see a confirmation showing the number of
1:47
posts and pages ready to be imported. If
1:50
everything looks good, just click import
1:52
content and voila, your content will be
1:56
migrated in no time. After a brief
1:58
moment, you'll see a confirmation
2:00
message telling you that your data has
2:02
been successfully migrated.
2:05
Step three, image migration.
2:08
Now, let's talk about a few important
2:10
things to keep in mind during the
2:12
migration process. First, images.
2:15
Sometimes they don't transfer
2:16
automatically with the XML file. You
2:19
might need to manually upload them to
2:21
your ghost server. If you're dealing
2:23
with complex posts like those with
2:25
custom HTML or plugins, a little bit of
2:28
manual cleanup might be necessary. For
2:30
images, you can use an SFTP client or
2:33
plugins like Updraft Plus to back up and
2:35
restore your media files. Migrate to
2:38
Ghost today and experience the
2:40
difference. And if you found this
2:42
tutorial helpful, be sure to hit the
2:44
like button, subscribe for more content
2:46
like this, and drop any questions you
2:48
have about the migration process in the
2:50
comments below. Thanks for watching, and
2:52
happy migrating.
